About Bernadette Curtin

When I was a small child, one day my mother came home from a shopping trip with a colouring book and a box of watercolours. I sat on the floor and began my adventure with drawing and colour.

During primary school, I also enjoyed making drawings with my grandmother, whose painting hung over the mantelpiece in our living room. I loved this painting, it somehow made the room feel alive, harmonious and complete.

When I left school, art was my chosen field of study. Although it was academic, and I really only spent time on the subjects I liked, I am still appreciative of the opportunity that was given to us to look deeper and explore a subject more thoughtfully. The years of study helped to lay foundations in order to develop my confidence in expressing visually. In more recent years I have studied philosophy and energetic sciences with philosopher and author Serge Benhayon from Universal Medicine and this has supported me to develop a deeper awareness of the energetic aspects of life and art.

I chose teaching as a profession, and worked in secondary and tertiary sectors of education. This enabled me to keep sharing what I loved, and at the same time I was learning from my students!

Today I still combine teaching and tutoring with my own practice. In all these fields I attempt to work in that same way that I knew as a child, playfully, not critical, not having to know everything or get it right, but just enjoying the connection with myself and other kindred souls, moment to moment.

We all have something beautiful to express to others. Sometimes we have been discouraged from pursuing a creative path. Often we don’t feel confident about our ability, and we need some support to discover the joy of our true expression.

Connecting to who we truly are, not what the outside world expects, and then expressing from that deeper place within, allows us to unfold more of who we are, naturally. This is true freedom.
